Riley's heart rate has crept back down to around 145 bpm after the second course of amiodarone. His BP is normal. His hands and feet are still quite blue, sometimes looking dramatically bad and other times seeming to improve. Still, his perfusion is far away from where we'd like to see it. His sats are about 90% with the oxygen blow-by, we figure they'll settle in the mid-80s without oxygen.
He is awake and was extubated about an hour ago. His voice is a bit hoarse and he is asking for juice, but we can't give him anything just yet. Thanks for all of the comments and support, it means a lot knowing so many people are out there pulling for our little guy.

I'm so glad to hear that the situation is improving! My heart goes out to you guys. I hope that Riley continues to make progress and that his recovery is speedy. I'm praying that he's home for his birthday this year. Thinking of you!
It's good to hear he's improving; we're hoping for steady improvement through the night.
His poor-looking appearance is probably a direct result of his erratic heartbeat - once they get that under control I'm betting he looks a lot better and the blueness subsides.
Despite the challenges and concerns that still remain, we are so relieved that the surgery was successful and without complication. He's still got a lot of recovering to do, but we all know from last year what a battler he is.
Thanks again for the updates. What a relief it is to update the page and get a new entry with the word "improving" in the title. :-)
