First visit to Buffalo

Riley joins Mom for his first visit to Buffalo and his first opportunity to meet numerous friends and family, including Great Grandma Galante. From there, they'll head to New Jersey and Philadelphia for a brief stay with the Norton relatives, including a chance to meet his other great-grandparent, Great-Grandmom Norton. Mom and Riley will be back in the Bay Area on October 5th, not a moment too soon for Dad who misses everyone.

On the move

Riley had a physical therapy appointment on Monday and the therapist was very pleased to see his two new tricks. First, he's crawling, just a bit. And second, when you stand him up, he will pick up his feet, in an attempt to walk forward. These are both new with in the past month and hopefully he'll soon realize that crawling is much faster than scooting.

We've seen changes this week as well. On Tuesday, using a step at the park he stood up from a sit position for the first time. After that, he crawled up onto the stoop. Later that day, he sat down for the first time... a controlled sit, that is, other than just letting go and falling backwards. Finally, this morning I left him down by the entrance when I ran back up to the kitchen to get his cup. Thirty seconds later when I came back, he had crawled half way up the stairs!! I guess we just can't leave him anymore. I need to be retrained ;-)

Well rested!!

We are back from a long and restful vacation. We spent four days in Santa Barbara with friends (and Ken did a 100-mile bike ride) and then we went to the Big Island of Hawaii for 12 days! Riley loved the airplane and learned to enjoy splashing in the ocean. Here are some snapshots from our trip....
