Riley had a good night. His heart rate is back to "normal," right now it's at 112 bpm. His blood pressure continues to be good. At one point his chest tubes dumped quite a bit of output, but they've slowed down again. Perhaps a clot freed up or Riley's increased movement dislodged some of the effusions. On a historical scale it's not significant, his right tube put out about 100ml. Soon after the Fontan last year each tube was draining well over a liter daily.
Riley is tolerating it all, he was finally able to drink some juice last night at 11:30pm. The nurse also removed the foley catheter a few hours before that. He was showing signs of discomfort around midnight so the nurse gave him some pain meds and that helped him sleep. I haven't been able to coax a smile but he's conversational.
If we continue on this course I presume we'd be allowed to return to the 7 North step-down unit sometime later this morning or early afternoon.
