The good news is that the preliminary MRI results show that there is no blockage within Riley's Fontan circulation and the hepatic veins are also free from blockage. Specific measurements of how leaky his valve is have not been calculated and the cardiologist who officially reads the MRI results was not around today. Hopefully this doctor will be able to read Riley's results Wednesday and we'll finally get some solid answers regarding what kind of surgery he is headed for--the Fenestration alone or the Fenestration with some kind of valve repair/replacement.
Also, it is unclear when surgery will take place at this point. We were originally told that surgery could be as early as this Thursday or Friday. However, since we don't know what kind of surgery he'll be having (need those MRI results), and we have not even talked with the surgeon yet, it is more likely that surgery will be next week at the earliest. We still don't know if/how the remaining effusions impact the surgery date.

I am glad there is no need for a cath repair in addition to everything else that is going on. I hope you get good news on the valve tomorrow.
I remember how hard it is not knowning when surgery is going to be scheduled. I hope you do not have to wait too long and the effusions come down. Riley will feel better and there will be no added risks in surgery.
No blockage!! That is fantastic news! We are so happy to hear that Riley won't need a cath on top of having the MRI. I think one of the hardest aspects of having your child in the hospital is waiting around for something to happen. You just want there to be constant progress so that you can get your little guy home as soon as possible......and things always seem to get delayed. Hang in there and know that you have so much support behind you guys. We all want to help hold you up!
love,
Gwynne
I am glad to heare there are no blockages. We're continuing to hope for good news on the valve. Keep hanging in there and staying strong. Hopefully Riley is eating some yummy food. Everybody is thinking about you.
Thanks for keeping us all posted. We have a few pictures that Kadence and her friend drew for Riley that I keep meaning to drop off at your house (and of course keep forgetting to bring with me). What's the address to Riley at the hospital so I can give him some cheer - at least for his wall space? :) Hang in there you guys! -Jayne
I'm thinking of your family. I know its so hard to play the waiting game at the hospital. I'm hoping you have some kind and compassionate nurses and quiet roommates.
